I met Doc Gurley at Health 2.0. She was one of the handful of physicians present at the conference, and I instantly found conversations with her both enlightening and entertaining. A quick look at her blog revealed that she's a prolific (and humorous) writer, besides an epidemiologist, an internist, a guardian angel for the homeless and mentally ill, and a cinematic producer with "The Lost Tampon" as her masterwork. Oh, by the way, she's also "the only Harvard Medical School graduate to have been awarded a Shoney’s Ten-Step Pin for documented excellence in waitressing".
I thought it only fitting to have an offbeat interview with the doctor, who can help me digest the vast amount of medical+digital bits I swallowed from Health 2.0.
In this episode we further discuss significant IT initiatives taking place in the health arene, with Doc Gurley's observation on interest and commitments from large corporations' such as Microsoft. - BeiBei Song, Essinova Host
