Taking a Pulse on Health 2.0 with Doc Gurley

Part 5 of 5: ShareCare

I met Doc Gurley at Health 2.0. She was one of the handful of physicians present at the conference, and I instantly found conversations with her both enlightening and entertaining. A quick look at her blog revealed that she's a prolific (and humorous) writer, besides an epidemiologist, an internist, a guardian angel for the homeless and mentally ill, and a cinematic producer with "The Lost Tampon" as her masterwork. Oh, by the way, she's also "the only Harvard Medical School graduate to have been awarded a Shoney’s Ten-Step Pin for documented excellence in waitressing".

I thought it only fitting to have an offbeat interview with the doctor, who can help me digest the vast amount of medical+digital bits I swallowed from Health 2.0.

ShareCare, founded by Jeff Arnold of the WebMD fame, was a star at the conference. This time around, Mr. Arnold's new venture is supported by both big-ticket celebrities such as Oprah and Dr. Oz, and also heavy-hitting media names such as Sony Pictures TV and Discovery Communications. Experts from major health organizations in the nation answer questions from the online community. In this episode, Doc Gurley shares her take on the company.
